Best of the Best - The Pedestrian Beach
The Pedestrian Beach, is the most sought after beach in the entire St. Augustine area. Most of St. Augustine Beach is a driving beach except the few blocks that make up the pedestrian beach. It forbids vehicles which makes it much safer for families. The Sand Castle is one of the few rentals found by the pedestrian beach. There are no vehicles, no crowds and a lifeguard is always on duty during the day in the summer months. |
Best Ocean Access
St. Augustine Beach is very wide with beautiful, wide drifts of soft, white sand. Because St. Augustine Beach is so wide, the town built a handful of wooden walkovers that extend out over the softest sand to make it easier to reach the ocean. The Sand Castle has dual beach access from both the front and back sides of the house. You can either walk across the sand from one side of the house or use the walkover to get to the water from the other side, giving the Sand Castle the absolute best ocean access. |

The St. John's County pier is walking distance from The Sand Castle. It is a 4 acre beachfront park with a variety of amenities including a playground, picnic table, restroom facilities, outdoor showers, covered pavilion, bait, ice, tackle, refreshments and lighted beach volleyball courts. It is open daily from 6:00 AM-10:00 PM. |

St. Augustine Beach is the most beautiful beach in North Florida and differs significantly from all others. Here is what you need to know: St. Augustine Beach is very wide, has gorgeous white sand, forbids vehicles (pedestrian beach) has numerous local restaurants/amenities and is the most convenient to all the St. Augustine attractions. It is the most sought after beach in all of North Florida. Ponte Vedra Beach is most convenient to Sawgrass/Player's Stadium Golf Course, a long distance from St. Augustine, it is isolated and can have a very narrow beach. Vilano Beach is wider in parts than Ponte Vedra but is an unattractive, coarse beach, not white and sandy. It is closer to St. Augustine than Ponte Vedra but still fairly isolated with not much to do. Crescent Beach has a wide and sandy beach but allows cars and has considerable traffic on the beach. It is one of the furthest beaches from downtown St. Augustine and fairly isolated with few local amenities. |
